Aliz is going to be 12 years old. We got her as a puppy, and we didn't have any problem with her during growth period. In this Easter she had metritis and her uterus had to be removed by a serious operation. Postoperative recovery has taken very long time, because she was already 11 years old, and she had some overweight as well. At beginning of summer she had a new problem, she began limping to her right front leg.
At the beginning she walked with very slight halt, we cold only see on the poise of her head, but her condition became worse and worse later. We visited our vet, who didn't find any disorder - he assumed abrasion in the right elbow joint as background of the pain. And overweight is not useful either for such an old dog. Then the vet offered a remedy with alga extract. He recommended to take the whole quantity to see if it works or not. Unfortunately it wasn't effective, condition of the dog became even worse. Then we visited him again, and he offered a specialist of leg disorders of dogs and cats.
The latter vet investigated and X-rayed the leg, and stated that the dog has developmental disorder in the joint. She has a wedge-shaped exostosis in the joint causing abrasion on the articular surface. The doctor explained the possibilities and let us to make the decision: we can leave it like this, or he can open the articulation to see how it perfectly looks and to remove broken pieces of the cartilage. Then he asked how much pain did it cause for the dog. We answered: quite a lot - then he prescribed a painkiller. When I took it out in the pharmacy, the pharmacist offered BiogenicPET for old dogs.
He also said that the dog should improve after one week of treatment - and this was what really happened. We collected information about the product then we began giving it. After one week of treatment the dog didn't limp, and it was only the first step of a continuous improvement. Since then we have been giving the drug for 4 months. The dog regained its vitality similar to a puppy, she is spry, and lost bodyweight on the top of it.
